U.S. women top FIFA rankings

Thanks to its Algarve Cup triumph earlier this month, the United States moved past world champion Germany into the top slot of FIFA's women's rankings, which were released Friday.

The Americans moved from second to first place, accruing 21 points. They have 2,207 points, 34 more than Germany, which dropped 28 points to 2,173.

The rest of the top 10 remained relatively unscathed.

Sweden (2,084) was third, followed by Brazil (2,082), Norway (2,042), North Korea (2,023), France (1,998), Denmark (1,996), Canada (1,957) and Japan (1,956), which moved into the top 10 past No. 11 England (1,945).

The next women's rankings will be released June 6.
