She had done it 129 times before, but Kristine Lilly’s goal in the US’s 4-0 win over Germany on Saturday is the New England Soccer News Goal of the Week for the week ending May 23.

Abby Wambach drove to the near post, drawing a defender before cutting a pass back to Lilly. The 38-year-old midfielder, who is the world’s all-time caps leader, then became the oldest player in U.S. history to score a goal, cutting her left-footed shot off the right post and into the net.

For Lilly, who played in her 345th game for the USA, it was her first goal in a U.S. uniform since Oct. 17, 2007, against Mexico and the 130th of her career.
